Fine End to the Year

by Wilma Carol M. LaBelle, Senior Member, SWE-WI Section

The SWE-WI Section met at Naga-Waukee State Park, Hartland, WI, Saturday , June 26, 2004, at 12 noon for a picnic dinner.

In attendance were SWE members, families, and guests including many smallThe author with several Wisconsin Section members and family members. sons and daughters [future engineers?].

The food was sumptuous as each contributed to the pot-luck dinner. The grill was glowing for burgers and brats. There was a variety of salads, dips, vegetables, chips, rolls, and seasonings. Beverages and desserts were plentiful.

The SWE-WI banner swayed in the breeze. This banner was hoisted to the picnic shelter building with string, tacks and much bending and stretching of a few members. Music wafted from radios and tape players.

After dining, the newly elected SWE officers for 2004-2005 received records and data from the 2003-2004 SWE officers. The ensuing pleasant discussions included reviewing the year ending and planning the agenda and projects for the new year. Ongoing projects and new plans were a part of the discussion.

Blowing bubbles and chasing the bubbles was a part of the fun of the day for the many small children at the picnic. Running on the green grass and the lovely weather were just right for bubble-blowing.

Ball throwing occupied both adults and children. Coloring books and drawing pictures in their books on the picnic tables kept some small hands busy.

Photography was hot as many brought cameras. The June day was good for  picture-taking.

There is an ice-age hiking trail nearby.  A few persons with their dogs investigated these trails.

All in all this was a very successful meeting day. SWE-WI officers transferred SWE records, procedures were discussed, and there was planning for the upcoming new SWE year. A big part of the success of the meeting was the camaraderie, sharing ideas, and enjoying meeting spouses, friends, and children.
