SWE Members Take in
Play
by Bernadette Cassata, Wisconsin Section Member
On a crisp autumn afternoon in September, a group of
SWE members and their families enjoyed an outing to American Player’s
Theatre in Spring Green for ‘The Tempest’. While most would consider it
more football weather than outdoor theatre weather, with a coat it was quite
comfortable, and by the number of other theatre-goers, we were not the only
ones to enjoy the natural setting.
While it was cozy in the audience, a terrible storm was
brewing on the stage, with a shipwreck as the result. The play encompassed
the themes of retribution and love, with the plot getting a lot of help from
magical spells. The acting, as usual, was outstanding and the set
creatively moved from the ship to land with out really changing externally,
but by using the same areas differently we could imagine the locations.
Those that attended included Vanessa, a UW-M student
and her parents and grandmother, Ryan, Dina, John, Lisa, Bernadette and her
daughter Christine.
Afterwards, the group stayed to enjoy a meal at the APT
picnic grounds.
