As reported by Wisconsin Section member Abby Peele

SWE Meeting hosted by Marquette University Society of Women Engineers Student Section

Perspectives from Professional Women

This meeting of the Marquette Student Section was a great success.  A panel consisting of five women from the Society of Women Engineers, Wisconsin Section was asked to address the following 3 questions:

  • What do you do as an Engineer?
  • What is it like to be a woman in a male-dominated field?
  • How do you combine life and a career?

Each woman had a different perspective on the questions posed, which made for an interesting discussion.  At the end of the evening, students asked additional questions to the panel & were able to network after the event.

The Marquette Student Section Members were great hostess.  They were able to advertise the meeting by various means and drew a crowd of about 17 students. They were very organized and accommodating to students & panelists alike.  I think this is a great accomplishment for both their section & the Wisconsin Section in working together toward the common goals of the Society of Women Engineers.

Panel Members from the Wisconsin Section:

Bryna Goeckner – Wisconsin Electric

Abigail Peele – GE Medical Systems

Andrea Cole Fyhrlund – Rockwell Automation
